Global Standards Project Delegate, Chris Burcin, is currently an eLearning Middle Leader and music teacher at St. Monica’s College, Cairns, an all-girls Catholic secondary school. Chris’s journey to the flipped classroom began with recording lessons for students who were away. As technology has made online learning and video creation easier, Chris has embraced flipping as a way to maximise student understanding while simultaneously freeing up class time for more practical work and, most importantly, more opportunities to fail on the road success | Global Standards Project Delegate, Jason Hlavacs, Ed. D., is currently the Division Chair for Applied Arts at Lyons Township High School, in LaGrange, IL. Dr. Hlavacs comes to us with a range of experience, and is currently on the Region 2 Board of Directors for the International Technology and Engineering Education Association. He was awarded Administrator of the year two years in a row. In 2017, he received the award from the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education. In 2016, that same honor came from the Technology Education Association of Illinois. |

“While I have been flipping in some fashion for more than 10 years, I've only gotten serious about refining my own application of the technique in the last 2-3 years. As eLearning Middle Leader, I have the opportunity to influence my staff and as a soon-to-be qualified Flipped Learning Trainer I hope to spread the message around Cairns. I want to be at the forefront of this movement because I believe in its potential to better reach the needs of every student.” | “Standards, when done well, are a roadmap for practitioners that guide them on effective ways to educate. I have valuable experience working with Flipped and blended learning in program creation, instructional content development, and teacher and student feedback. I have seen the impact of flipped learning both as a teacher and as an administrator. I can bring the unique perspective of currently being in both of those positions and using flipped learning for both. |
